Meet our pastor - Rev. T.J. Gabelman & Family

T.J Gabelman, is an Ordained Elder with the Texas Annual Conference, who was born and raised in Florida, before moving to Texas in 2014. Before being the Senior Pastor in Rusk, T.J. was an Associate Pastor both at First United Methodist Church in Brenham and at First United Methodist Church in Longview, TX. He also served as a youth director in Hallsville, TX and in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

T.J. received his call to ministry during a time of prayer when he was a senior in high school. He followed his call by attending Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Church Ministry. He continued his education by receiving a Master of Divinity in Practical Theology at Regent University, a Master of Theological Studies at Iliff School of Theology and most recently a Doctor of Ministry from Emory University's Candler School of Theology.

While at Southeastern University, T.J. met his wife, Amber, and they were married on August 22, 2003. They have 3 children, Charles, Jake and TK. The family also includes three fur babies, cats Mocha and Happy and puppy Mr. Pugsley. Besides enjoying time with family and friends, T.J. enjoys reading, loves Star Wars and Star Trek, enjoys a good cheeseburger, watching sports and keeping up with the three-time Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.
