Talk Is Cheap!

A couple of weeks ago I was setting on the deck of the parsonage surveying the large number of leaves covering the yard. Melissa came out and asked me, "What are you doing?” "Oh, thinking how I should get up and rake the back yard. However, I think I will ponder it a while longer! It seems to me that if God put these leaves here, he can surely take them away. Maybe if I wait long enough the wind will below them away. Of course the Swinks and I have an agreement that we won’t blow our leaves into each other’s yard".

Melissa responded, "Listen if you haven’t noticed there is a fence holding the leaves in the yard. Besides, maybe God wants you to get some exercise and to insure that you do he put those leaves here for you to rake"!

"Well maybe you are correct, but I think I might get to it later in the week. It is too late in the day to start now. If I started now I couldn’t finish before it got dark. No, I had better just ponder it some more"!

Fast forward a few weeks. Melissa finds me sitting on the deck again. "What are you doing"? "Oh, I am pondering how I should rake the back yard. But, you know if I let those leaves decompose it might help the grass grow back here. Yep, that is what I am going to do. Just let them decompose. Besides I have been reading about how we all should become greener. You know recycle and take better care of God’s creation"!

Talk really is cheap! How often do we talk about doing something in our lives and it never happens? We talk about losing weight, going to the gym, coming to church more often, doing a Bible study, painting the house , helping with the youth etc., etc., etc.,!!!! Yet, it never happens!

Isn’t it about time to quit pondering it and just do it? Oh, and if any of you feel the urge to rake leaves, mine are still available!!

Blessings,
Pastor Chuck

Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God........Corinthians 10:31
