Meet our pastor - Rev. Sunny Farley D.Min

Dr. Farley has been a journalist, blogger, media coordinator, & freelancer since 1990 as well as pastor and is still a ghost writer for a United Methodist bishop. She is currently a consultant/coordinator for the United Methodist Global AIDS Committee and is a Faculty Member for the UMC Course of Study at Perkins School of Theology. She remains a motivated minister committed to serving God's people.

Sunny served as the director of The Wesley House of Tyler Junior College for more than a decade before leaving to become the executive director of Mendocino Redwood Retreat Center and campground in Mendocino, California.

Upon returning to Texas, she served as pastor of Bascom United Methodist Church, Noonday United Methodist Church, and Tyler FUMC. According to DS Gilts, she is passionate about preaching, ministry to and with the community, and hearing other people's stories.

In addition to her regular pastoral duties at First United Methodist Church Rusk, Dr. Sunny Farley has been recently named the chaplain for the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center (FCIC) in Tyler. This statewide fusion center coordinates law enforcement investigations for various types of organized financial crimes.

Sunny has two sons - Kai, 19, and Hunter, 16. And she enjoys playing violin and guitar often treating her congregation with her music.
